Levels 1 – 3

Levels 1 to 3 have been designed to suit secondary school age students. The Levels have a very different approach to the Little Artist Club and the Foundation Course. Each Level lasts for three terms but each term is very different. Classes now move to lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes in Levels 1 – 3.

Each Level builds on the skills taught in previous Levels. The design of the Levels part of the course is progressive in nature. Our young artists begin with simple concepts of Shape, Tone and Colour Theory and then build their skills working on Composition, Perspective, Portraiture and Figure Drawing.

Each term develops skills in a single medium. During the three years we work, term by term, in: Watercolour, Gouache, Acrylic, Pen and ink, Pastel and Pencil. By spending a full term intensively building skills and focusing on developing techniques in a single medium we really enhance skills in that medium. The last two or three lessons of a term work on a single piece, with complexity and difficulty levels increasing term by term.
