Sunday 22nd – Friday 27th August 2027
The 5 day course is based in The Queen’s College, Oxford. Queen’s is one of Oxford’s oldest and most prestigious colleges. Accommodation is provided in The Queen’s College and all meals in the beautiful College Hall are included in the course cost.
The Queen’s College was founded in 1341, the college has a mix of beautiful mediaeval and early Georgian buildings. It is located on ‘The High’, Oxford’s main street, a minute from the iconic Radcliffe Camera and Bridge of Sighs. Joanne was an undergraduate at Queen’s and has maintained a relationship with the college since graduating in 1995, which is why the Little Art School Charity is able to host this unique art course in such an eminent location.

Joanne will be teaching the whole course and be with you every step of the way, guiding you to develop skills and techniques for improving sketching and painting outdoors. We will begin each day meeting after breakfast in the College Hall at Queen’s
– DAY 1: Within the Queen’s College
– DAY 2: Radcliffe Square Sketchbook Journaling; So many views to choose from: All Souls, Brasenose College, St Mary’s, the Bridge of Sighs and the Radcliffe Camera; or just a railing with bikes or a wall with sunlight!
– DAY 3: Sketching in Museum; following in the footsteps of generations of artists developing skills, drawing in the Ashmolean Museum with a special lunch in the Ashmolean Museum
– DAY 4: The dreaming Spires; painting the view of the city from Christ Church Meadow or the Botanical Gardens
– DAY 5: Individual choice
These plans will be subject to the weather and we have wet weather alternatives in place
In the weeks before the trip, Joanne will speak to each individual to work out how you would like to paint and what skills you would like to develop. Our aim is that we are all in the same location but working individually. Some of you might want to continue developing sketchbook skills or create a watercolour journal whilst others might want to tackle larger paintings in acrylic or oil. We will supply a special bag full of art goodies with sketchbooks as well as spare oil and acrylic paints.
The cost of the full 5 day course, fully catered with accommodation is £1,425.
This is a small increase from 2025 due to the college increasing their costs. All the profits from the Oxford Art Holiday will go to fund our Community projects, bringing the joy of art to some of the most vulnerable in our communities.
Cost includes:
– Accommodation for 5 nights. arriving Sunday 22nd August and departing late afternoon on Friday 27th August. All rooms are single rooms with an ensuite. Accommodation will be either in the main college or the annex just next door to the college
