Term 1
A Focus on realism ‘Painting Reflection and Transparency’
We will be developing skills painting water, glass and metal. Using gouache, watercolour, coloured pencil, acrylic, pastel and oil. This term we will step into hyper-realism and build confidence drawing and painting complex still life paintings, as well as a complicated realistic cityscape. Throughout Level 5 we will also be working at creating travel journals with watercolour sketchbooks, building skills observing from life and capturing in watercolour.
Term 2
Developing skills in all media ‘Painting Portraits’
We will be building confidence painting portraits this term. Starting with a focus on individual features and finishing with painting the whole face. We will tackle portraiture using both realist and abstract methods. We will be working a lot using oils but also continue to develop skills in other media.
Term 3
Looking for the light and shadow ‘Painting Drapery’
This term brings together skills from all the previous terms. We will be showing how shadow and light can transform a piece of material into a shimmering mass of dimensional tones and colours. Working in watercolour, acrylic, pastel, gouache and oil and finishing with a large complex portrait which combines portraiture and drapery to conclude Level 5
LEVEL 5 – FULL
Materials for the full course will be supplied on enrolment.
Please not these are addition to your Level 1,2 & 3 materials that you will continue to use.
LEVEL 5 – 12 MONTH
Materials will be delivered in 3 parts – Part 1 Materials on enrolment, Part 2 materials in month 4 & Part 3 materials in month 8.
